Description
AR - Generic Smart Campus Navigation System Abstract of Student Registration Project – Annual project two teams Project Name: Generic Smart Campus Navigation System Name of supervisor: Mr. Eran Katsav Project Overview: Building on the success of the AR-Smart Navigation Campus project from last year, this new initiative aims to develop a Generic Smart Campus Navigation System for Android. The previous project, which successfully implemented augmented reality (AR) navigation across the HIT campus, serves as the foundation. The new project will create a system that not only supports existing campus maps like HIT but also allows administrators to define and set up navigation for entirely new campuses. Project Goals: - Generic Campus Creation: Develop a flexible system enabling the creation of new campus navigation solutions. Administrators can upload custom maps, define points of interest, and set up campus-specific navigation. - User-Friendly Interface: Ensure a seamless experience where users can either log into a pre-defined campus (e.g., HIT) or create a new one with a simple admin interface. - AR-Based Navigation: Continue leveraging AR technology to provide intuitive, real-time navigation within various campus environments. - Multimedia Integration: Enable the addition of newsletters, event updates, and other campus-specific content within the app. - Cloud Capabilities: Utilize Firebase for backend services, ensuring scalability, data management, and real-time updates. Development Plan: Semester A: - Define system architecture and specifications based on the HIT app. - Explore advanced Kotlin features, Firebase, and Android Studio for enhanced functionality. - Start building the admin interface for new campus setup. - Implement basic features such as map upload, point-of-interest definition, and AR integration. Semester B: - Finalize the admin interface and user authentication system. - Complete integration of Firebase for data management. - Conduct testing across multiple campus setups, gather feedback, and refine the system. - Prepare comprehensive documentation, including user manuals and developer guides. Team Structure: - Team 1: Focus on Backend Development (Firebase integration, cloud functionalities, and data management). - Team 2: Focus on Frontend and AR Development (User interface, AR navigation, and multimedia integration). Technologies and Tools: - Android Studio with Kotlin - Firebase for cloud capabilities - ARcore for augmented reality - Google Maps API for location services - Git for version control Expected Outcomes: By the end of this project, students will deliver a versatile and scalable Android application that can be customized for any academic campus, enhancing navigation and user experience through advanced AR features.
