Description
Jessica is a pioneering smart Agri-PV (Agricultural Photovoltaic) platform that transforms farmland into a dual-use energy and agriculture resource. General Description Jessica is a pioneering smart Agri-PV (Agricultural Photovoltaic) platform that transforms farmland into a dual-use energy and agriculture resource. Unlike traditional fixed solar structures, Jessica’s mobile and dynamic platforms provide flexible solar coverage, full access to agricultural machinery, and customizable shading that adapts to different crops and seasons. By enabling up to 30–60% higher solar coverage per dunam, the system significantly improves return on investment (ROI) for energy developers while maintaining or even improving crop yields. Jessica also saves up to 30% of irrigation water by reducing evaporation through controlled shading. The solution is portable, scalable, and infrastructure-free, allowing relocation across plots, easy seasonal adjustments, and rapid deployment. Beyond energy generation, Jessica integrates with battery storage systems for local energy management, maximizing land productivity. Jessica is already a trusted supplier to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, proving its engineering quality and reliability. With a strong leadership team spanning aerospace, patents, and large-scale project management, Jessica is positioned to redefine the economics of Agri-PV globally, turning non-productive land into high-yield, income-generating assets. Project Scope Purpose and main objectives of the project: • Technology: Controlling a solar panel • R&D: boost yield, and feed clean energy to the grid. Student Requirements List expectations from students, such as: - Teamwork - Full attendance in weekly meetings - High motivation - Independent learning - Personal responsibility Development Tools Tools and technologies that will be used in the project: • Hardware/IoT: Build sensor nodes, power them efficiently, push data to the cloud. • Software/Data: Clean datasets, train simple crop/energy models, build a dashboard. • Control/Algorithms: Write panel-tilt and battery-swap logic- simulate “what-if” scenarios. • Robotics/Mechanics: Prototype a self-leveling leg or a mini motion rig- test durability. • Testing/Field Ops: Design experiments, collect results, and report what actually works. Deliverables List all required deliverables: - A small working demo (sensor → cloud → control action), a clear dashboard, and a short field/test report with recommendations. You may also include: YouTube video, Presentation, GitHub link to the code Additional Notes • Each project team may include up to 4 students (2 teams). • Please include your contact details at the end of the document for student inquiries: - Ofer Melamed - ofer.melamed@gmail.com For any questions, you may also contact: Shirany.hit@gmail.com
