Description
Mechanical Design Copilot General Description We are developing a “Mechanical Design Copilot” that helps mechanical engineers move faster from a written requirement to an initial design outcome, while keeping engineering knowledge accessible and traceable. We are focusing on two core capabilities: ● Text-to-CAD based on standard components such as bolts, nuts, washers, and standard profiles. ● An engineering Q&A capability that answers questions based on organizational knowledge. Project Scope The project scope is to deliver an MVP Mechanical Design Copilot with two integrated capabilities: (1) build a reliable ingestion pipeline for the organization’s engineering knowledge (PDF/Word) including parsing, section-based chunking, metadata/units handling, and indexing into a searchable knowledge base, so that users can ask engineering questions and receive answers that are strictly grounded in the retrieved internal sources with clear citations to the relevant sections/pages- and (2) provide a standards-based Text-to-CAD feature for standard components (bolts, nuts, washers, and standard profiles) where the user selects the standard and enters the required dimensions, and the system generates and exports a STEP (.step) file that can be directly imported/dragged into CAD software , accompanied by a short summary of the chosen standard and key parameters.
