Project Title
Automatic Video Data Harvesting Pipeline and Management Platform for Home Activities
General Description
Early detection of cognitive and functional decline in older adults (such as MCI or early-stage dementia) often relies on detecting subtle changes in complex Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Developing artificial intelligence models to monitor these activities requires vast amounts of high-quality, diverse video data. However, collecting and managing home activity videos manually is inefficient and difficult to scale. This project focuses on building an automated data engineering infrastructure capable of harvesting, filtering, cleaning, and storing video data from open sources. The platform will also feature a web application (UI/Admin) to search, inspect, and manage the dataset efficiently.
Project Scope
The primary goal of this project is to design and implement an end-to-end video data platform that automates the transition from raw web videos to a structured, high-quality video library. Key objectives include developing an automated ingestion engine using targeted search queries to ensure demographic and environmental diversity, building an automated processing pipeline for resolution filtering, deduplication, and metadata extraction, and constructing a dedicated database architecture. Additionally, students will develop a user-friendly frontend interface featuring basic search/filter tools for videos and a comprehensive Admin Dashboard for system monitoring, dataset analytics, and manual data moderation.
